Trail Journeys is a family business that is locally owned and operated. Founder Neville Grubb was born and bred in Alexandra and has over 20 years of experience in the cycle industry.

 

Trail Journeys was the original company that started offering bike hire, customised itineraries, luggage, bike and passenger transport on the Otago Central Railtrail. They started when the Rail Trail opened in the year 2000 and have seen it progress and grow in popularity over the years. Trail Journeys has progressed with it and has grown to be the largest operator on the trail with a combined total of over 60 years of experience among their staff. Trail Journeys is the perfect way to explore the beautiful scenery of this area.

 

For your convenience, Trail Journeys has staffed depots at both ends of the trail so everything is on hand to cater for the likes of last minute adjustments or, if desired, a complete bike change. They provide all the support you need for a fantastic adventure, with up to 30 staff to call on, 7 passenger vans, 3 buses and 10 trailers. Trail Journeys has the resources to cater for your group and support you at any stage of your journey, providing a quick response when needed.

 

In 2010 Trail Journeys teamed up with Avanti and went through a complete development process in order to come up with a new bike specifically to help their customers to enjoy their cycling experience.  These custom built bikes have many features including puncture resistant tyres, upright riding position and sweep back handlebars to take the pressure off your wrists, neck and back. Higher spec chain and derailleur’s make for smoother, more reliable gear changing and padded seats with extra width provide a more comfortable ride.
